On March 3rd, the General Assembly of the Academy sat for its 128th meeting in which 42 fellows participated semi-virtually.
Prof. Davari Ardakani, Chairman of the meeting, welcomed Prof. Reza Faraji-Dana, the new secretary of the Academy to the General Assembly meeting and thanked him for accepting the responsibility as the secretary of the Academy and wished him success in this position. He also thanked Prof. Fathollah Moztarzadeh, Secretary of the Foresight Council, and his colleagues for holding the World Future Day in the Academy and for the interesting speeches delivered in the event.
Following the approval of the previous meeting's minutes, Prof. Seyed Mohammad Ghari Seyed Fatemi, a new fellow of the Academy who participated in the General Assembly meeting for the first time, delivered a speech entitled "Two Contemporary Human Rights Paradoxes". Then Prof. Davari Ardakani awarded him a fellow membership card.
Afterwards, the following associate members were elected by secret ballot as the new fellows of the Academy:
- Prof. Abbas Shakeri, Prof. Ezatollah Naderi, and Prof. Reza Nilipour, from the Department of Human Sciences
- Prof. Megerdich Toomanian and Prof. Mohammad Mehdi Sheikh-Jabbari, from the Department of Basic Sciences
- Prof. S. M. Mehdi Kiaei, from the Department of Veterinary Sciences
- Prof. Mohammad Soltanieh and Prof. Javad Faiz, from the Department of Engineering Sciences
Moreover, the associate membership of Prof. Rahim Zaare-Nahandi, from the Department of Basic Sciences, was approved for a four-year term.
Following the meeting, on the occasion of National Tree Planting Week, a sapling was planted by each fellow in his name in the courtyard of the Academy.
