Presided over by Prof. Davari Ardakani, the 522nd meeting of the Scientific Council of the Academy was held on Sunday, January 1st. The attendees comprised of the secretary, vice president for research and deputy president and the chairmen of the scientific departments.
At first, Prof. Davari Ardakani wished the people of the world a happy New Year. Then he congratulated Prof Yousef Sobouti, the new chairman of the Department of Basic Sciences, and wished him continued success. Prof. Davari also thanked and appreciated the effective and valuable efforts of Prof. Farid Moore during the chairmanship of the Department.
Prof. Faraji Dana, the secretary of the Academy, also sent the very best of wishes for the New Year and then presented a report of the measures taken by the Academy to prepare and equip two meeting rooms for the Academy.
The meeting continued with the approval of the minutes of the previous session of the Council.
Afterwards, the distinguished engineering candidates of 2023 of the Academy were introduced by Prof. Jafar Towfighi, the chairman of the Department of Engineering Sciences, and they were approved.
In this year's honoring ceremony on the Engineer’s Day, the Academy will honor two distinguished engineering professors, three prestigious engineers and six prominent young scientists of the country. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 23rd. In this meeting, the chosen elites of the last year of the Academy will be introduced and honored.
Then, the agenda of the 133rd meeting of the Academy's General Assembly was approved.
At the end of the meeting, there was a discussion and exchange of opinions regarding the systematic communication between scientific departments and specialized divisions of the Academy with faculties, groups and professors of universities and research institutes throughout the country. It was decided to set up a working group under the responsibility of Prof. Faraji Dana and with the presence of Prof. Salehi, Prof. Semnanian and Prof. Towfighi to reflect on this matter and compile a guideline and submit it to the Council.
