The 136th meeting of the General Assembly (GA) of the Academy was held on Thursday, November 2nd, in which 53 fellows were present.
At first, Prof. Mokhbar Dezfouli, president of the Academy, condemned the crimes committed in Gaza by the Zionist regime and expressed the disgust of the Academy of Sciences at the martyrdom of thousands of oppressed and homeless women and children. It was also decided to send a letter from the Academy to the leading scientific authorities and academies of the world to condemn the genocide and inhumane behavior of the usurping regime.
Then, he congratulated some members of the Academy for being included in the world’s top 2% scientists list.
In the GA, three new fellows of the Academy delivered lectures on the following topics:
Current and Future Status of Medical Engineering in Iran and the World, Prof. Mohammad Reza Hashemi Golpaigani
Science Diplomacy and the Academies of Sciences, Prof. Ali Akbar Mousavi Movahedi
The Need for a New Scientific Leap and the Role of the Academies in It, Prof. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi
Prof. Mohaghegh Damad, chairman of the Department of Islamic Sciences of the Academy, presented a report on the activities of the Department.
Finally, some members of the Academy presented their views on various issues of the Academy and the country.
At the end of the meeting, the proposals of associate membership of Prof. Mahmoud Mehrmohammadi and Prof. Saeed Balalaei for a four-year term were approved by written vote.
