On November 30th, the Division of Mathematics of the Department of Basic Sciences of the Academy hosted semi-virtually a Seminar on “Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences” at the Academy.
At first, Prof. Shams Ardekani appreciated the efforts made by Prof. Tomanian and Prof. Sobouti and emphasized on finding solutions for the existing problems. He added: "Artificial intelligence has become a sensitive issue that goes beyond economic, political, geographical, and ethnic topics. Finding solutions for the problems are the things that have caused the growth of the world and progress of science and technology. Regarding artificial intelligence, the scientists in the Academy, should find whether it is a problem or not, and if it is a problem, they should find a solution for it.
The seminar continued with Prof. Majid Nili Ahmadabadi’s speech on "Mathematics for the Development of Safe Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence for Learning Mathematics" He stated that the two subjects of mathematics for safe artificial intelligence and artificial intelligence for learning mathematics are intertwined at a scientific level. The serious question is, where artificial intelligence can be used in mathematics and how it can help accelerate the development of mathematics.
Then, Prof. Mohammad Hosseini Moghaddam, Prof. Farshid Abdollahi and Prof. Arash Amini delivered lectures on “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education and Research in Basic Sciences”, “The Coexistence of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, a Strategy for Innovation and Progress” and “Learning Large Graphs” respectively.
