On Sunday, February 26th, the Research Council of the Academy held its 190th meeting. The participants included Profs. Hassan Ahmadi, Gholamreza Aavani, Mohammad Bolourtchian, Hassan Tadjbakhsh, Mohammad Shahedi, Hassan Zohoor, Ali Kaveh, and Hossein Namazi.
Initially, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Then Prof Shahedi stressed the quality of the Academy's lectures and seminars and the demand for focusing on new themes and topics in such events. He added that the outcome of these symposia should provide a basis for the academy to express its view in different areas. On the same basis, the proposals of the following lectures and seminars of the Department of Engineering Sciences were considered and approved.
- The Academy's High Place and Role in the Society
- Iran's Commitments in the Paris Agreement 2016
- Iran Energy Outlook
- Hygiene, Safety and Environment
- Strategies for the Implementation of the Environment Macro Policies of the Country
- Promotion of the Place of the Academy in the Country’s Macro Policy Decision-Making
- Future of Higher Education in Iran
- Accomplishments of the Academy in the Past 25 Years
The other matters, topics and proposals discussed and approved in this meeting include:
- Discussion on the letter of the Academies' common affairs secretary regarding the authority of science and technology
- Approval of the publication of the proceedings of the research project entitled "Compiling Annual Book on the Status of Environment in Iran"
- The final report of the research project on " Studies on and Evaluation of the Quality of Scientific Journals of Agriculture and Natural Resources" and referring it to the Scientific Council of the Academy for final approval
At the end, it was suggested to submit the following proposed topics to all of the members of the Academy to comment on: culture and ethics, wisdom-based science vs science without wisdom, challenges of education and research in the country, water crisis and challenges of Iran's environment and housing.
