Presided over by the president of the Academy, the 470^th meeting of the Scientific Council of the Academy was held on Sunday July 9^th. The attendees included the secretary, vice presidents for research, chairmen of the scientific departments of the Academy and the rector of the Center for Science and Technology Studies.

At first, the Academy's candidates were chosen to receive the First Governmental Medal of Science in 2016 and 2017.

The other topics and proposals discussed and approved in this meeting include:

• The nomination of the candidate of the Department of Engineering Sciences of the Academy to receive the 2018 Tang Prize in Sustainable Development;
• The final report of the research project on "Designing the Integrated Management System for the Sustainable Development of the Country";
• The final report of the research project on "Future Universities";
• The cooperation of Prof. Farhad Khormali, Dr. Arash Malekian and Dr. Abdolmajid Mahdavi Damghani as invited scholars with the Department of Agricultural Sciences for a two-year term;
• The extension of the collaboration of Prof. Homayoon Oraizi Esfahani as an invited scholar with the Department of Engineering Sciences of the Academy for a further two-year term;

The extension of the membership of 28 associate fellows of the scientific departments of the Academy for a further four-year term and passing it to the General Assembly for approval.
