Chaired by the vice-president for research of the Academy, the Research Council of the Academy includes the secretary of the Academy and representatives of the scientific departments. Meetings of the Council are held every other week.

Duties:

- Studies on the macro-research policies of the country and the Academy, compilation of the research policies of the Academy according to the goals and tasks of the Academy and in line with its vision, and reporting them to the president of the Academy

- Studies on and specifying the ways of research communication of the Academy with the research officials of research organizations and institutes inside and outside the country

- Studies on the research activities of the scientific departments of the Academy and making necessary recommendations to promote their research status

- Compilation of internal regulations related to research projects and activities and submitting them to the president of the Academy

- Studies on the research issues and problems of the Academy

- Preparation of short-term, medium-term and long-term plans for the Academy's research activities and passing them to the president of the Academy

- Studies on issues related to the research affairs of the Academy presented by the scientific departments and reporting the results to the president of the Academy

- Studies and comments made on the proposal of new research projects and submitting them to the Scientific Council for final approval

- Appointing a referee or supervisor to evaluate the periodical and final reports of research projects

- Making comments on the results of research projects and reporting them to the Scientific Council for final approval

- Studies on and reviewing regulations and instructions and scientific and research programs and making recommendations

- Studies on and reviewing the matters presented by the vice-president for research and making recommendations

- Studies on, reviewing and making comments on matters assigned by the president of the Academy and the Scientific Council
