Presided over by Prof. Davari Ardakani, the Scientific Council of the Academy sat for its 503rd meeting on September 12th. The attendees included Profs. Sharifi Tehrani, Salehi, Mohaghegh Damad, Moore (virtually), Nadalian, Namazi, Moztarzadeh, Eslami, and Shahedi.

After welcoming speech, Prof. Reza Davari Ardakani, referred to Prof. Ali Akbar Salehi’ highly developed moral and scientific status and called him a capable administrator, familiar with the conditions of the development of science and research. He thanked him for accepting the responsibility as Deputy President and Vice-President for Research of the Academy. Prof. Davari Ardakani hoped that the Academy would benefit from Professor Salehi’s views and expertise to implement the aims and activities set forth in the statute.

Then the members of the council thanked Prof. Davari Ardakani for this appointment and congratulated Prof. Salehi and wished him continued success in serving the Academy and the science and development of the country.

Following the adoption of the minutes of the previous meeting, the following topics were decided upon:

- Approval of the article derived from the research project on “Studies on Recent Strategies in Biological Sciences' Research and Technology”;
- Ratification of the final report of the research project on “Research, Discovery, Analysis and Documentation of the Academy's Prestigious Engineers' Profiles (biographies, experiences, missions, values and core principles and personal perspective, approaches, methods and management achievements” and its accomplishment;
- Election of Prof. Simin Naseri, associate member of the Department of Engineering Sciences of the Academy, as a representative of the Academy to join the National Working Group on Open Sciences;
- Approval of the "being scientific" of the Journal of Human Sciences Development according to the opinion of the Working Group for Determining and Evaluating the Validity of the Academy's Journals;
- Passing the membership proposals of associate fellows or the extension of the associate fellow memberships of a number of professors proposed by the scientific departments of the Academy. This will be referred to the General Assembly for final approval;
- Extension of the collaboration of four guest scholars with the Department of Agricultural Sciences, for a further two-year term.

At the concluding part of the meeting, the nominations of the Department of Basic Sciences of the Academy to receive Abu Reyhan Biruni's Award 2021, were introduced and approved.
