On Wednesday, December 1st, The Office of Women Affairs in Engineering Sciences of the Academy held the second meeting virtually on “Women and Scientific Societies” of the series of meetings to promote the role of women in science and technology. The participants included the members of Women Council on Science and Technology of the Academy, the Commission of Scientific Associations of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, a number of liaisons of scientific societies of engineering and basic sciences.
At first, Prof. Kaghazchi, head of the Women Council in Science and Technology of the Academy, welcomed the audience and gave an account on the scientific societies and their importance.
Then, Prof. Jalai, secretary of the Scientific Associations Commission, thanked the Academy for addressing this issue, and explained the importance of the role of women in science and technology, and emphasized the effective cooperation of the Academy with scientific societies.
The meeting continued with Prof. Daneshkhah’s speech on the experience of the Iranian Mathematical Society in establishing the Women’s Committee and its challenges and achievements.
Prof. Falahati also presented a speech on the women in technology and engineering with emphasis on the structure of higher education in Iran.
At the end, Prof. Roshanfekr, secretary of the meeting, summarized the topics of the meeting.
