Prof. Reza Davari Ardakani, President of the Academy, has appointed Prof. Reza Faraji-Dana as the secretary of the Academy. In a part of the written order, it is stated that, “In view of your proven scientific and moral competencies as well as background of your merit and wisdom in administrating the university affairs and the country's science, and considering the dignity and importance of the position of the secretary as a pillar of the academy, you are appointed to this position”.

Prof. Reza Faraji-Dana, born in 1960 in Qom, holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and is currently a full professor at the College of Engineering, University of Tehran (UT). Prof. Faraji-Dana has been an associate fellow of the Academy since 2008. He was the chairman of the Division of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Engineering Sciences of the Academy, for several terms.

Prof. Faraji-Dana was the president of the UT from 2002 to 2005. In the 11th government of IR Iran, he was the Minister of Science, Research and Technology for one year. He was also Advisor to President in Scientific and Educational Affairs from 2014 to 2021.

Briefly stated, Prof. Faraji-Dana’s other executive and academic positions include: Senior Advisor to the president of the UT; Head, Tehran Electrical and Electronics Engineers Association; President, Iranian Society of Engineering Education; Head, UT Informatics Center; Dean, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UT; Dean, College of Engineering, UT.
