On Thursday, January 27th, a specialized meeting of the Division of Pathobiology of the Department of Veterinary Sciences of the Academy was held semi-virtually in the presence of the fellows, associate fellows and invited scholars of the Department and professors of several universities.
At the beginning, Prof. Mohammad-Gholi Nadalian, chairman of the Department of Veterinary Sciences of the Academy stated that “Every year the Department holds several scientific meetings during which updated scientific findings are presented. As the promotion and publication of scientific works are among the main stated goals of the Academy, we make every effort in this direction.”
Following the meeting, Prof. Hassan Tadjbakhsh as a keynote speaker, said that the study of various parasitic, viral and infectious diseases is very important and is in need of undivided attention.
Afterwards, Prof. Mohammad Vojgani, Secretary of the meeting and chairman of the Division of Pathobiology of the Department, thanked the participants and addressed the objectives of the meeting. After introducing the lecturers, he added that what is important in the discussion of parasitic diseases and damages that are resulted, is the necessity to formulate the strategic plans for them so that we can prevent their possible damages and minimize them.
Then, the following lectures were delivered:
- The Necessity to Formulate and Implement Strategic Plans to Control Parasitic Infection in Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Seyed Hossein Hosseini, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tehran;
- A Review of the Pathogenesis and Pathology of COVID- 19, Prof. Farhang Sasani, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tehran;
- Estimation of Economic Losses of Some Animal Diseases, Dr. Hessameddin Akbarein, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tehran
