Presided over by Prof. Davari Ardakani, the 133rd meeting of the General Assembly of the Academy was held on Thursday, March 2nd.
Following the approval of the previous meeting's minutes, honorary membership of Prof. Mohammad Shahidehpour, professor of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology and member of the US National Academy of Engineering, was set forth. Prof. Towfighi, chairman of the Department of Engineering Sciences of the Academy, introduced Prof. Shahidehpour and some of his valuable activities, including the effective cooperation with the Division of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Academy and many universities and scientific centers of Iran. After exchanging opinions, Prof. Shahidehpour’s honorary membership was approved by written vote.
Afterwards, the associate memberships of Prof. Mohammad Kazem Moravej Farshi and Prof. Seyed Abbas Shojasadati, from the Department of Engineering Sciences; Prof. Nasrin Soltankhah, Prof. Mohammad Sal Moslehian and Prof. Mohsen Mohammadzadeh from the Department of Basic Sciences; Prof. Javad Zamiri and Prof. Mehdi Kadivar, from the Department of Agricultural Sciences; Prof. Hassan Danaeifard and Prof. Ali Asghar Mosleh, from the Department of Human Sciences of the Academy were proposed and approved by written vote for a four-year term.
Moreover, the associate memberships of Prof. Omid Ali Shahni Karamzadeh and Prof. Nasrollah Mahboobi Soofiani were extended for a further four-year term.
At the end of the meeting and on the occasion of National Tree Planting Week, a sapling was planted by each new fellow in his name in the courtyard of the Academy. These fellows of the Academy included Prof. Toomanian, Prof. Soltanieh, Prof. Shakeri, Prof. Sheikh-Jabbari, Prof. Alizadeh, Prof. Faiz, Prof. Kiaei, Prof. Naderi and Prof. Nilipour.
