The Public Council Meeting of the Department of Engineering Sciences of the Academy was held semi-virtually by the Division of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Department of Engineering Sciences on Wednesday, September 20th.

 

At first, Prof. Babak Hossein Khalaj delivered a speech on the "Engineering Education Horizons in the Next Decade: Looking at the Path of Electrical and Computer Engineering".

 

The outlines of his speech are as follows:

- Foresight of upcoming technologies in the next decade
- Position of the fields of engineering and basic sciences according to recent developments
- Convergence of various fields of engineering and basic sciences, and a close connection with the fields of medicine and humanities
- A glance at the challenges of engineering education and new tools that can serve engineering education in the near future, as well as the opportunities that may be created along with the upcoming challenges
- Change and transformation in different sectors with the emergence of generative artificial intelligence technology
- The necessity of familiarizing engineering professors with generative artificial intelligence and large linguistic models as vital tools in order to benefit from artificial intelligence, and in the next step, to inform students of its interactive potential in the education process.
