The introductory meeting of the new fellows of the Academy was held on Tuesday, September 26th.
The attendees included Prof. Mokhber Dezfouli, Prof. Shams Ardekani, Prof. Salehi, the chairmen of the six scientific departments and Prof. Kabganian, director of the Center for Science and Technology Studies of the Academy.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Mokhber Dezfouli congratulated the selection of the new fellows and pointed out the scientific role and status of the Academy.
After the welcoming speech of Prof. Mokhber Dezfouli, Prof. Salehi, Prof. Shams Ardekani, Ayatollah Rashad (new fellow), Prof. Mohaghegh Damad, Prof. Zolfigol (new fellow), Prof. Zahedi (new fellow), Prof. Sobouti, Prof. Moosavi-Movahedi (new fellow), Prof. Shamsipour (new fellow) and Prof. Davoodi (new fellow) delivered short speeches.
The meeting continued with Prof. Mokhbar Dezfuli’s speech. He stated that “Efforts must be made for the Academy to reach its true position. While activating the neglected parts of the current statute, it is necessary to draft a new statute for the Academy of Sciences”.
He added “Strengthening communication with policymakers and relevant executive bodies and utilizing the capacity of young thinkers will be on the agenda for the advancement of the activities of the Academy of Sciences”.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Mokhber Dezfouli gave the written orders of fellowship to the new fellows.
