Presided over by Prof. Mohammad Reza Mokhber Dezfouli, the 138th meeting of the General Assembly of the Academy was held on Thursday, February 29th.
At first, Prof. Mokhber Dezfouli, president of the Academy, welcomed the participants and honored the memory of the late Prof. Fathollah Moztarzadeh, fellow of the Academy. Then, he appreciated the presence of Dr. Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi, Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, in this meeting.
Afterwards, Dr. Dehghani Firouzabadi presented a report on the progress of quantitative and qualitative scientific and knowledge-based development of this Vice Presidency in the last four decades. At the end of his speech, the fellows of the Academy discussed and exchanged opinions.
Then, the proposal of the fellow memberships of Prof. Ali Akbar Salehi, Professor of Energy Engineering, Sharif University of Technology; Prof. Abbas Ali Motalebi Moghanjoghi, Professor of Food Health, Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization; Prof. Mohammad Shahedi, Professor of Food Science and Industry, Isfahan University of Technology; and Dr. Mohammad Abdolahad, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Tehran, were raised. The chairmen of the relevant scientific departments introduced them and described their activities, and their memberships were approved by a majority of votes.
Finally, the proposal of associate memberships of the following professors at the Academy for a four-year term were presented, discussed, decided upon and approved by a majority of written votes: Prof. Seyed Hossein Hosseini, Professor of Parasitology, University of Tehran; Dr. Samad Lotfolahzadeh, Professor of Veterinary Internal Diseases, University of Tehran; Prof. Hossein Mahdavi, Professor of Chemistry, University of Tehran, Prof. Seyed Jalal Dehghani Firoozabadi, Professor of Political Science- International Relations, Allameh Tabataba’i University; Dr. Morteza Karimi Nia, Professor of Quranic Studies; Prof. Saeed Sarkar, Professor of Medical Physics, Tehran University of Medical Sciences; and Prof. Abbas Erfanian, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology.
