Prof. Ali Akbar Salehi, Vice-President for Research and Deputy President and fellow of the Academy, and Prof. Javad Faiz, fellow of the Academy received the Knowledge Award on June 24th.

 

The second Knowledge Award ceremony was held concurrently with commemorating the 1757th anniversary of higher education tradition in Iran and the 90th anniversary of the approval of the law of the establishment of the University of Tehran.

 

This ceremony was held with the presence of Prof. Mohammad Reza Mokhber Dezfouli, President of the Academy, Prof. Mohammad Ali Zolfigol, Minister of Science, Technology and Research, Hojatoleslam Abdolhossein Khosropanah, Secretary of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, Prof. Seyed Mohammad Moghimi, President of the University of Tehran, Prof. Hossein Ghanaati, President of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Prof. Reza Pourhossein, Secretary of the Knowledge Award.

 

Prof. Ali Akbar Salehi, Prof. Javad Faiz, Prof. Mohammad Ali Azarshab, Prof. Bagher Sarokhani, Prof. Ali Akbar Sabouri, Prof. Seyed Hamidreza Sadeghi, Prof. Yahya Aghighi, Prof. Ali Kheiruddin, Prof. Mohammad Reza Hafezi, Prof. Seyed Kamal Kharazi and Prof. Mohammad Reza Vaez Mahdavi were the 11 selected personalities in the second Knowledge Award ceremony of the University  of Tehran and Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

 

The process of examining the eligibility of candidates to receive the Knowledge Award has been carried out with 11 criteria in the scientific and professional files of professors, which are "having innovative scientific and research work at the national and international level in the frontiers of knowledge", "social impact", "having innovative scientific research work in national and international level and creating a new wave", "having an international grand prize in scientific and research fields in their specialized fields", "having a national and international reputation in their specialties", "having a scientific and research work in order to achieve the goals of humanities ", "having works for the development of knowledge-based companies", "entrepreneurship at the national level of student upbringing and scientific guidance and in such a way that students become members of the academic staff ".

 

Ali Akbar Salehi was born in 1949 in Karbala, professor of nuclear engineering at Sharif University of Technology and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, research assistant and fellow of the Academy, former vice president and president of the Atomic Energy Organization, holder of the Order of Bravery and the Order of Republic Service of the Islamic Republic of Iran, having numerous scientific and technological works in the field of nuclear engineering and energy, the former president of Sharif University of Technology and Imam Khomeini International University (RA) Qazvin, winner of the Kharazmi Festival Developmental Research Award, selected by Nature magazine as one of the top 10 personalities of 2014 in the world, and named Iran's Atomic Caesar in the American Science magazine.

 

Javad Faiz born in 1952 in Qom and is a distinguished professor and outstanding researcher of the University of Tehran in the field of electrical and computer engineering and a fellow of the Academy, who succeeded in gaining an international rank as one of the influential figures in the field of electrical and electronic engineering in 2024. He has published three specialized books on electrical engineering by international reputable publishers and has the first rank of fundamental researches of Kharizmi Festival in his scientific records.
